A talented professional dancer living in Los Angeles returns to her hometown to open a dance studio with her equally talented sister, the Art District became a hub for the performing arts. The Movement, the dance studio portion of this new business venture, spearheaded the search for the perfect location. Originally a local grocery store, this renovation project was a fun one. Turning shopping space into dance studios, coolers into private offices, and the front porch transformed into a reception space. Relics of Veron’s remain from the brick patterning to the inspiration for the signage and floor patterns. Dark finishes were carried through the space to create the perfect setting for lessons and performances, and also to contrast against the stretch bars and exposed HVAC ducts. The space also contains a lounge space for students to work on homework while waiting for a class.
